We love having visitors — and can’t wait to welcome you to the Farm! For your health & safety and the health & safety of our animals, we ask that you follow these rules:

No smoking on Farm property.

No dogs or other companion animals are allowed, except ADA compliant service dogs.

Do not feed or touch Farm animals, unless you are with Wakeman animal staff or instructors given permission.

Do not enter the barns, greenhouse or any Farm buildings without Farm staff.

Please check in upon arrival for your safety and the security of the Farm.

Do not climb the trees on the Farm.

No food or drink is permitted in or near the animal enclosures.

Please respect the animals, as you are visiting their home. No running or chasing after them.

Parents or caregivers are responsible for their children at all times.

If you are a Participant in a Farm Program, Volunteering or Attending an Activity:

Closed-toe shoes are required for all participants at all times. The Farm reserves the right, in staffs’ reasonable discretion, to prohibit participation in certain activities if staff deems participation would be unsafe.

Activities are held in all weather conditions, unless unsafe to do so. Please dress accordingly for the activity and weather.

Hand washing is required by all participants before and after engaging in any activities on the Farm including, without limitation, interacting with animals, gardening, cooking and eating.

Wakeman Town Farm reserves the right to ask any individual to leave the premise if WTF directors or staff deem, in their reasonable discretion, that the health or safety of the individual, other visitors, Farm staff or Farm animals is at risk by such individual’s presence or behavior.

Saturday Open Visiting Hours - All Ages Welcome!

Sat. 9-1 p.m. is open for visitors

Tours and Class Trips

The Farm is an excellent destination for students to see and experience sustainable living first-hand, as well as a place to see what farm life is all about. Through a farm visit, participants learn about organic soil, planting, seasonal eating, nutrition, food preservation, animal care, biodiversity, and more. This community farm is  a 'living classroom' and a one-of-a kind complement to more traditional classroom curriculum. We routinely host single classes, community service groups, and youth organizations.  We love to host scouting troops, garden clubs, senior citizens, preschoolers and organizations of every stripe. No matter what the age group or interest level—Kindergarten through college—Wakeman Town Farm has something valuable to offer.

TOURS & SMALL GROUPS

Smaller groups and basic farm tours can be scheduled from April to October. The experience, typically one to two hours, includes a guided tour of our sustainable practices, gardens, and animals.  Special programs or activities can be included for an additional charge. Programs can be adapted to suit the needs of students of most ages. Generally, our programs are targeted towards students K-12th grade. We are happy to discuss special populations, as we strive to be a welcoming place for all.

CLASS TRIPS

Due to the overwhelmingly positive feedback from teachers, large groups or class trips are encouraged to schedule their visits in advance so we can look to accomodate them in between our daily youth programs. We are thrilled to customize programs so they integrate into curriculum being taught in the classroom. In addition, we love to host groups from out of town and from underserved areas where farms are few and far between. Pricing varies based on the program, length, curriculum, materials and other factors.

Group or Private Tours or Programs are offered by appointment only. To reserve a tour, or for program and cost information, please email education@wakemantownfarm.org.

OUTREACH PROGRAMS

We will come to you! Call us to have a member of the Farm staff visit your party, class, day care, or community group to conduct a lesson specially designed for your group's interests and abilities. The basic outreach program includes one instructor for a one-hour visit and discussion, typically with a hands-on activity. For programs with additional materials or instructor, there may be a separate instructor and materials fee, to be determined at the time of booking.
